Tamuda BayAcross the Med from Spain is Morocco’s Tamuda Bay, a long curve of golden beaches below the green sweep of mountains. The King has a favourite palace and golf course there, and has decreed nature reserves and low rise buildings - so it has excellent roads and facilities but developments are attractive, and the smiling and friendly people have not been changed by mass cheap tourism.
This is the Moroccans’ favourite area when fleeing the fierce heat down South, or holidaying from Europe. Only connoisseurs from other nations know of it. Come and explore from our well appointed holiday flat.
In M’Diq, (photos below),ten minutes from the apartments, the fleet of boats still bring in sparkling fish to the fish market, and in the cool of the evening families stroll up and down the promenade; in the summer there are lively entertainers,and everyone enjoys the soft golden sand. At little tables in the streets nearby you can eat that day’s catch, delicious Moroccan soup or lamb kebabs for a few pounds, and watch a very different world go by.
In Tetouin, (photos below), twenty minutes away, visit the Medina and buy spices, carpets, leather goods, oranges or jewel-like pottery in surroundings so unchanged they are a World Heritage site. This is what Marrakech was like, before the tourists! The main town has excellent restaurants and modern shops, the white Spanish architecture reflecting it's history as regional capital when Spain ruled. |

In Spring, explore hills where wildflowers cover the ground like a garden, in Autumn, swim in the warm sea, or gallop along the sands on horseback - excellent stables a few minutes walk from the complex. These are the best seasons for birdwatchers too: up to 200 species can be seen migrating over the shortest crossing between Africa and Europe. Anglers catch their dinner on the stone pier at Cabo Negro; golfers play the championship golf course – all these within five to twenty minutes of the apartment.

The crystal clear sea stays warm after the summer rush is over, September and October are wonderful months to visit and see the real Morocco.
